e-Science Videoconferencing

JANET(UK) is starting a number of development projects to support the UK e-Science videoconferencing community. Working with the Access Grid Support Centre, development projects include:

• JVCS-Access Grid conversion facilities
• a dedicated Audio and Video Assessment tool.

JANET Videoconferencing Service

In addition to the existing IP and ISDN videoconferencing services that are booked through the videoconferencing management centre, two new services have been developed:

• JVCS-OnDemand, for creating an instant IP videoconference. [more]
• JVCS-Check, an instant assessment tool developed to provide an online audio and video self assessment for IP (H.323) based videoconferencing endpoints. [more]

Higher Quality Videoconferencing

JANET(UK) is undertaking a Higher Quality Videoconferencing (HQVC) project to support niche sectors of the JANET community that require high clarity audio and high definition video for videoconferencing. The project will enhance existing usage scenarios or enable new applications of videoconferencing. [details]
