MEASUREMENT AND MONITORING

 

• JANET Measurement System
  In 2007 JANET(UK) will enhance JANET Netsight with additional features and capabilities. Further information about the procurement and an outline of the new system can be found here.

• Measurement Data for Research
  JANET(UK) provides a range of data to researchers interested in networks. We are actively expanding the range of data that can be made available and welcome comments from the research community in this area.
  

• Flow monitoring
  Flow-data is used to monitor various aspects of the network. In 2007 a new integrated system will be put in place that will allow users more access to data as well as providing data for research and other projects.
  

• Optical Monitoring
  This area focuses on gathering status and performance data from optical equipment for onward processing and integration into wider monitoring activities.
  

• JANET Multicast Beacon
  There is always a need for more accurate data to enable multicast problems to be debugged effectively. The JANET Multicast Beacon can be found at www.beacon.ja.net. Various beacons are available here for different communities of users. Both the NLANR Multicast Beacon and Dbeacon are available along with ssmping.
