The umbrella of activities comprising the National Learning Network, funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), includes provision of JANET primary connections for all English FE colleges. AN LSC-funded programme to upgrade connections to either 4Mb/s or 10Mb/s commenced in July 2004, and 385 out of the 386 colleges have now been upgraded.
The programme of upgrades has been organised in partnership with the Regional Networks which provide most of the JANET distribution infrastructure around the country, and with the assistance of the nine JISC Regional Support Centres in England, which offer advice and support on JISC services.
